Lucas Santoro

Baller since 2016

In early June of 2014, just three weeks after his second birthday, Lucas’ aunt and uncle found a lump on the side of his neck that gave them cause for concern.

Doctors urged Lucas’ family to take him to Albany Medical Center for bloodwork. In the next two days, Lucas would undergo many painful and sometimes invasive procedures, including bone marrow extractions and spinal taps. On June 12, fears were confirmed; Lucas had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

After many weeks of treatment and constant battling by Lucas, the doctors informed his family that he was in remission and could begin the maintenance phase of his treatments. Lucas continues to achieve health milestones during his maintenance phase, which is scheduled to finish on August 15, 2017!

Lucas is a happy, playful, energetic boy. No one could ever tell that he has been through so much at such a young age.
